Emma and Harvey usually walk their miniature Schnauzer around Kensington and Flemington as the little pal could explore the local area.

“If we go out for dinner or cafe or something like that, we just take him along because it’s a walk for him and then an outing for us as well,” Emma said.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Schnauzer, a breed that originated in Germany, now lives in Australia under the French gentlemanly name “Philippe” because his owners believe he looks like one because of his moustache.

Philippe loves the area as the presence of other good dogs always provides for fun playtime and company and the dog parks are a natural treat.

“He loves other dogs. He isn’t crazy about other people. He is a bit apprehensive but,” Emma said.

The couple took Philippe home during peak COVID lockdowns, so the French gentleman never really got to socialise with people much.

“But with dogs, he did. Because we got to at least take him to dog parks and although we weren’t socialising with people, he was able to meet the other dogs,” Emma said. •
