Great dates in Parkville Gardens
It’s amazing how many time systems rule our lives. There’s the calendar year, the financial year, the school year, sporting seasons, religious seasons and weather seasons, to name a few.
Right now, we’re in between football and cricket, on our way through the final term of school, and looking ahead to Christmas and summer holidays. Here in Parkville Gardens, we’ve got some great dates coming up.
First up is our Spring Sizzle. This will be a great neighbourhood picnic with terrific children’s entertainment and a BBQ for all. Come to the Galada Ave Reserve from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday, November 9. Join your old friends and make new ones as well.
There’ll be a couple of performers for the kids at 12.30pm and African drums at 1.30pm. Don’t miss the show! We’re keeping fingers crossed for good weather.
This will be swiftly followed by our Annual General Meeting. Come along to The Park Club at 81 Galada Ave (up from the street and next to the swimming pool and gym) for 6.30pm to 7.30 pm on Thursday, November 13. Meet your committee, hear what we’ve endeavoured to do for the neighbourhood, share your thoughts on what would make Parkville Gardens an even better place to live, and enjoy some light refreshments.
Best of all, put your hand up to become a committee member, especially if you’re savvy with social media.
The meeting is open to all Parkville Gardens residents, but please register via the QR code when you get the flyer in your letterbox. You will need to be a member to vote and to join the Committee. Ask for a membership form via [email protected]. It’s a bargain.
The transport team at the City of Melbourne is still processing feedback from the Parkville Gardens Pedestrian and Road Safety Survey. It has promised to share its draft recommendations once they’ve decided on the proposed improvements.
Looking beyond the neighbourhood, the Parkville Heritage Review is now available for inspection and feedback until Friday, October 31. For more information go to participate.melbourne.vic.gov.au/parkville-heritage-review.
The City of Melbourne is also seeking feedback on its draft Safe City Camera Program. Consultation is open until Wednesday, October 29. Get your skates on and go to melbourne.vic.gov.au/safe-city-cameras.
Lastly there’ll be a Nature Play and Discovery Event led by the City’s Park Rangers from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, November 19 at the Royal Park Nature Playground. It’s free but you need to book via Park & Play – Park Ranger Education Trailer Experience •
