Locals invited to have their say on Clayton Reserve Dog Park upgrade

Dog owners are being encouraged to provide feedback on the City of Melbourne’s proposed upgrade to Clayton Reserve Dog Park in North Melbourne, with consultation open until Monday, June 30.

The upgrade, supported by the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, aims to enhance the park’s amenity for both pets and their humans, responding to feedback from locals who say the popular space is due for a refresh.

While the size and shape of the existing park will remain the same, a key feature of the upgrade is a proposed trial of separate zones: a smaller “quiet dog” area and a larger “confident dog” area.

Other proposed improvements include upgraded fencing and dual-access gates, improved pathways, better drainage and irrigation, new seating and trees, upgraded signage, and lighting at the park’s three entry points.

The City of Melbourne is seeking input from park users and the broader community to help shape the final design, with all feedback to be considered against the total available budget.

Locals can have their say by completing an online survey or speaking directly with council staff at one of several pop-up sessions to be held in the park.
