Kensington has a new go-to destination for specialty coffee lovers, with Rumble Coffee Roasters opening the doors to its first espresso bar on Macaulay Road.

Located within the new Local: Kensington residential development, the sleek and minimal space marks a new chapter for the Melbourne-based B Corp, which has been roasting coffee just around the corner since 2014.

Co-founders Matt Hampton and Joe Molloy, who also operate the nearby Double Dutch Bakery, say the new espresso bar is a natural extension of their mission to make high-quality, transparently sourced coffee more accessible.

“For 10 years, we’ve been roasting coffee just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to now have a dedicated space to share it,” Mr Molloy said. “Kensington is where we’ve grown, so being part of the Local: community just makes sense.”

Rumble’s new venue is all about the coffee – no kitchen, no frills – just expertly brewed espresso and filter coffee, with rotating single origins and blends. Their ethically sourced beans are also available for purchase, along with a range of home brewing gear.

The opening also marks a milestone for Local: Residential, a fellow B Corporation focused on sustainable, community-first rental living. Co-CEO Matt Berg said the partnership was a perfect fit.

“The way Joe and Matt do business aligns with Local on so many levels. We’re really proud to have them as our first retail tenant,” he said.

Rumble’s new espresso bar is open from 7am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, and is just steps from Macaulay Station in the heart of the growing Macaulay Precinct at 348 Macaulay Rd, Kensington.
