Ryder Pavilion revamp complete
The redevelopment of the Ryder Pavilion in Royal Park has been completed, with the upgraded facility now providing new and improved amenities to support the growing number of women and gender-diverse people getting involved in sport.
The Ryder Pavilion redevelopment was undertaken by the City of Melbourne, with support from the Victorian Government.
It marks the third and final pavilion upgrade in Royal Park and includes six gender-neutral and accessible change rooms, umpire change rooms, and a first-aid room.
“Our new Ryder Pavilion is helping set teams up for success, and I’m proud we’ve delivered a home base where everyone feels included. This is another welcoming space that is already encouraging more people to get involved in local sport,” Lord Mayor Nick Reece said.
“Women’s sport is booming in Melbourne and continues to cement our city’s status as the nation’s sporting capital. We’re seeing more women and girls than ever lacing up their boots and hitting the ground running.”

Royal Park is home to 29 women’s teams, with the Ryder Pavilion hosting the Brunswick Mudlarks Football Club, West Brunswick Amateur Football Club, and the Brunswick Junior Football Club.
It will also be used by the Brunswick Zebras junior soccer team and the Youlden Parkville Cricket Club.
The council’s community and city services portfolio lead Cr Gladys Liu said, "the Ryder Pavilion redevelopment is packed with features to help more women and girls have a great time both on and off the field.”
The project also incorporated a range of sustainability initiatives, including double-glazed windows, rainwater collection systems, solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, and water-efficient fixtures. •
