An original workmate
In front of a colourful mural on Queensberry St, Miranda introduces North West City News to her four-legged colleague: Peggy-Sue.
It’s a name that came naturally to her owner, who said, “it reminded me of the title of of the [1950s rock-and-roll] song I love.”
This long-haired Jack Russel female has been adopted from a breeder just when the COVID pandemic began. Since then, Miranda said she had been delighted to have a “very loving dog, who’s been connected to me emotionally”.
Peggy-Sue is also “very curious” and was exploring and sniffing the whole street during our meeting. She’ll turn four in November, and has an older brother at home, an Aussie bulldog.
“She’s bossy, playful and hard-working,” Miranda said, adding that Peggy-Sue often accompanied her to her office at Ozanam House – a homelessness support facility in North Melbourne, where she “makes people happy, bringing joy to the staff.” •
