Fashion meets heritage at Younghusband’s sold-out runway showcase
Kensington’s historic Younghusband woolstores were transformed into a celebration of creativity and culture on October 24, as Melbourne Fashion Week (MFW) brought its Student Collections Runway to the iconic precinct.
More than 900 guests filled the grand, red-brick halls of the heritage site, which has been reimagined as one of Melbourne’s most exciting new creative and cultural destinations.
The sold-out event saw upcoming designers from across Victoria unveil their latest collections – a vibrant mix of innovation, craftsmanship and individuality – in a setting that perfectly embodied the city’s blend of old and new.
The evening was a showcase not only of the next generation of Australian fashion talent, but also of Younghusband’s transformation into a thriving precinct for art, design and community.

Built on values of sustainability, adaptive reuse and connection, the redeveloped site provided an atmospheric backdrop for the runway, where textures of brick, timber and light complemented the dynamic energy of the collections.
Guests mingled in the laneways before and after the show, enjoying light refreshments and the chance to meet designers, stylists and fellow fashion lovers. The event highlighted the importance of supporting local creatives and celebrating the city’s design culture in unique, meaningful spaces.
Younghusband’s team described the night as “bold, sold-out and unforgettable – proof that when you combine emerging design with a place built on history, something special happens.”
The MFW Student Collections Runway was part of Younghusband’s broader commitment to hosting local, creative and distinctly Melbourne events throughout October, reinforcing its role as a hub for innovation and community in the city’s inner west. •
