Have your say: North Melbourne Community Hub

The City of Melbourne wants to hear what local people’s opinions are on the North Melbourne Community Hub.

The proposed Hub will be located at the site of the Jean McKendry Neighbourhood Centre and the Hotham Hub at 91-115 Melrose St.

The facility will be twice the size of the current community centre and when completed it will include youth, family and ageing services to meet the needs of North Melbourne’s growing population.

The Hub will also be home to new meeting rooms and large function spaces, a commercial kitchen, and other services and spaces to be determined through community engagement.

To bring this project to life the City of Melbourne has allocated $21 million and a further $10 million in grant funding over the next three financial years.

Lord Mayor Nick Reece said the goal of the new community centre is to invest in the future growth of the precinct.

“We’ve now released our draft concept designs for community consultation,” he said.

“I’d strongly encourage everyone who is invested in the future of North Melbourne to have their say.”

Community consultation on the draft concept designs for the North Melbourne Community Hub is open until Wednesday, December 18 on Participate Melbourne. •
