Lord Mayor Nick Reece has visited the dynamic and multicultural food destination EziStreat, located at 275 Macaulay Rd, North Melbourne.

The visit on September 19 was part of the Lord Mayor’s current election campaign for the City of Melbourne, which is focusing on Melbourne’s hospitality sector and the city’s revitalisation efforts.

Founded by Korean migrant Yun Kim, EziStreat is a 600 sqm renovated warehouse that brings together a diverse range of culinary delights from around the world.

The venue is home to 12 different vendors, offering everything from Korean street food to Colombian arepas, Vietnamese pho, and even traditional German bratwurst. It has quickly become a popular hub for food enthusiasts in North Melbourne and Kensington, showcasing the city’s rich multiculturalism through its food offerings.

During his visit, Cr Reece highlighted the importance of spaces like EziStreat in Melbourne’s thriving hospitality scene.

“Melbourne is known for its diverse and vibrant food culture, and EziStreat is a shining example of what makes our city great,” Cr Reece said.

As we continue to recover from the challenges of the past few years, supporting our local hospitality businesses is critical to ensuring our city remains a culinary capital.

Mr Kim said the space had become more than just a food hall – “it’s a community hub”.

“EziStreat is a place where people can come together to experience a wide range of cuisines and cultures. It’s about bringing the world to North Melbourne through food,” Mr Kim said.

The Lord Mayor’s visit also touched on the broader revitalisation plans for the city, including the redevelopment of Arden, aimed at boosting the local economy and creating more opportunities for small businesses like those at EziStreat.

Cr Reece’s commitment to fostering a robust hospitality industry remains a central point in his campaign, with promises to implement policies that will further strengthen the sector.

The visit also provided opportunities for media interviews with the Lord Mayor, Yun Kim, and several of the vendors, offering insights into how venues like EziStreat play a key role in Melbourne’s post-pandemic recovery.

EziStreat’s diverse lineup of vendors includes new additions such as Shokudo, offering traditional Japanese ramen and udon; Watermelon Sundae, featuring African-inspired burgers and fried chicken; and Taste, specializing in hearty German fare like bratwurst and pork knuckles.

This eclectic mix of global flavours makes EziStreat a go-to destination for food lovers seeking a unique dining experience in North Melbourne.
