Win a VIP ride on a Metro Tunnel test train

Melburnians have been watching construction of the Metro Tunnel take place across the city for more than seven years.

But with the project now counting down to opening in 2025, how much do you actually know about the Metro Tunnel?

The “Win a Metro Tunnel VIP Experience” competition gives 15 lucky people a chance to get a sneak peek at one of the new stations and an exclusive train ride through the tunnel.

The winners will also each receive a myki pass valued at $150.

To enter, answer five simple questions and complete your entry form by December 8, ahead of a random draw that’s scheduled to take place on December 10.

The Metro Tunnel is the biggest upgrade of Melbourne’s train network since the City Loop opened in 1981 and will transform the way Victorians move around our suburbs, city and state.

It will double the size of Melbourne’s underground rail network as we move towards becoming Australia’s biggest city, and will open-up the city like never before, giving passengers direct train access to St Kilda Road and Parkville for the first time.

This means having a train station on the doorstep of Parkville’s world-renowned education and health precinct, as well as in St Kilda Road’s growing employment and residential precinct.

It will make it easier to get to some of Melbourne’s most iconic destinations, including the Shrine of Remembrance, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Albert Park.

The project includes twin nine-kilometre tunnels with five new underground stations – Arden (in North Melbourne), Parkville, State Library and Town Hall (both on Swanston St) and Anzac (on St Kilda Rd) – and a next-generation signaling system delivering a turn-up-and-go network.

The Metro Tunnel will connect the busy Sunbury and Cranbourne/Pakenham lines via a new tunnel under the city, creating an end-to-end rail line from the north-west to the south-east, giving passengers new connections and more choice.

Entries are open now until December 8 and are limited to one per person.

Winners will be notified within seven days of the draw.
